Health and Living Conditions
The purpose of the Vårdal Foundation is to improve human health and living conditions. In order to achieve that purpose, the foundation supports innovative research and strategic collaborations in those issue areas.
The Vårdal Foundation is one of the major players in Sweden for interdisciplinary research in the field of health and social care. The foundation is an independent financier of research, which right now focuses on the challenges of ageing and health issues of children and adolescents. Supporting innovative research and initiating collaboration, the foundation has launched several successful research programs, for instance Vinnvård, which aims to generate knowledge and to speed up the process of putting knowledge into practice.
The Vårdal Foundation was established in 1994 upon a resolution by the Swedish Parliament. Since its inception, about SEK 930 million has been allocated in various kinds of research grants.
